Question:
I understand that the MAXVCG command works on an iterative basis. If this is
the case it seems that the number of iterations is our limiting factor and the
program terminates the iterations before a reasonable VCG is reached. If this
is true, how do we override the number of iterations to produce a reasonable
MAX VCG?
Answer:
While it is true that the process is iterative, it only gives up when no
progress is being made. There are some cases where there is no solution that
satisfies all the limits. To verify this for a particular case, set up the
same displacement and initial intact trim or LCG and the VCG you want to
investigate, then turn on the flooding, if any, set your initial heel angle,
make sure the angles direction is correct and do the RA /LIM command. Usually
this will reveal the cause of the odd MAXVCG result.
