Creating a Weight Segment
(Requires GHS version 17.00 or later)

(Use the command DB Update to get the latest version of the Data Base software.)

Geometry models in GHS are separate from weight items. While it is true that hulls and tanks displace and contain weights, "fixed" weights that represent structure, equipment, and solid loads are generally given as numbers, not geometric models.

However, when entering weight numbers by means of the Data Base, there is now a way to get weight from geometry. Currently you can derive weights of flat plates and hull midbody segments.

Here is an example:

Selecting "Midbody Shell" brings up a Part Maker dialog to let us specify the location and other parameters. This might be used to estimate the weight of a frame or of a panel of shell plating.

As a check, it displays the shape from which the weight distribution will be derived.

This geometry is only temporary and is not saved anywhere. The weight segment and its longitudinal distribution is the only result.
