Variable Array for Damage Cases
(Requires GHS )

Here is an efficient method for defining Damage Cases. It uses a VARIABLE array like was mentioned in COW154. Each variable in the array is named DCnum where num is the damage case number. The content of each variable is simply a quoted string of tank names.

Since each damage case variable contains the names of the tanks to be flooded, it can be used both for changing the TYPE of the tanks and for creating NOTES or SUBTITLES to annotate the report.

The image below (from a recent training class) shows an example with three damage cases. Note how variable DCn is set to 3, matching the number of cases. That is important, as it lets us call runDamageCases once for each case. The macro DamStabCalc performs the stability evaluation of the damage case.

The real tricks to damage stability are coming up with the damage cases themselves and writing a great DamStabCalc macro, but hopefully, you find this method of managing the cases useful.
