Multi-segment distributed weights with ADD
(Requires GHS version 19.12 or later with Longitudinal Strength module) |
Periodically, we have been asked if it's possible to have more than one distributed weight segment in a single ADD command. Well, as of GHS Version 19.12, you can!
The change log for GHS Version 19.12 reports: |
| ADD /LEN and /PLEN parameters may be applied not only after a single weight, but now also after each of several weights combined with semicolons. |
If you've ever received a spreadsheet like the one below, you'll immediately see the appeal of this new feature. Converting the distributed weights from the spreadsheet to your GHS run file is a snap. |
ADD "LIGHT SHIP" 250 0 0 6 /len: 40, -40; 12 -30 0 5 /len:-25, -35; 22 25 0 18 /len: 20, 30 |
Isn't that easier to check for errors than the following format, which has long been allowed, but requires conversion: |
WE 3.125 @-40, 3.125 @ 40 0 6; 1.2 @-35, 1.2 @-25 0 5; 2.2 @ 20, 2.2 @ 30 0 18 |
We thought it might be fun to end this COW with a festive example using multi-segment ADDs with /LEN. The run file is downloadable at (TREE.TXT); feel free to add some decorations. |
