ADD Combinations
(Requires GHS version 19.32 or later ) |
| The ADD command has long supported combining multiple weight items into a single item, using a command such as: |
| ADD "NEW" "OLD*" |
|
What this command does is combine all weight items whose names begin with "OLD" into a single weight item named "NEW". All the "OLD" weight items are deleted, and any existing "NEW" item is replaced. Note that if "*" is used instead of "OLD*", then all added weights (except the Light Ship and names beginning with "*") are combined into "NEW". The one hitch with this was that (prior to GHS version 19.32) the old weights were combined into a point weight. That means "NEW" would be missing any weight distribution (used by the LS command) and inertia (used by SEAKEEPING) from the "OLD*" weights. Fortunately starting with GHS version 19.32, all this information is preserved, so LS and SEAKEEPING results will be the same before and after ADD combinations. But what if you really want to combine items into a single point weight, or need to compare results in Print Files created by earlier versions? That can be done using the new /POINT parameter, which combines using the old single-point method: |
|
IF {VERSION}<19.32 THEN ADD "NEW" "OLD*" ,,
ELSE ADD "NEW" "OLD*" /POINT `force single point |
|
The WEIGHT * command has also been improved in version 19.32 to preserve distribution and inertia when combining all added weights into the Light Ship, same as ADD combinations. And likewise, the old behavior of combining all weights into a single point can be accessed using the /POINT parameter: |
| IF {VERSION}<19.32 THEN WEIGHT * ELSE WEIGHT * /POINT |
