MERGE LS PLOTS
(Requires GHS version 19.22A or later with Longitudinal Strength) |
|
Longitudinal Strength is an optional module of GHS. It treats the ship's
hull girder as a beam and calculates the shear and bending moment in the beam.
LS can also calculate stress and deflection. Limits for shear and bending
moments can be entered via LSLIMIT.
You can use frame locations from the Geometry File or a separate Frame File to shorten the tabular output, showing the LS results only at the specified frame locations. The individual shear force and bending moments values as these frames can be accessed after an LS /NOPRINT /FRAME using variables as described in HELP LS. Once you have run LS for a given loading condition, you can use a macro to save the shear and bending moment variables to a unique set of variables indexed to the current loading condition. Therefore, if you number your loading conditions, and save the LS results in these indexed variables, you'll be able to make a custom plot showing the shear curves for all the loading conditions on a single plot, like this: |
|
| And here are the combined bending moment curves. |

The run file that produces the above plots can be seen at https://www.ghsport.com/support/LSMERGELIM.HTM This run file is also listed in the Example Run Files on the Customer Support page. |
