Print File Export

This is a reminder that GHS print files can be exported to MS Word format.
The demand for this feature existed long before we implemented it. We were reluctant to have GHS reports be in a form that the user can conveniently edit because it blurs the line between what GHS has produced and what subsequently may have been added or modified. We heard the argument that having documents in MS Word allows them to be emailed and viewed by anyone since everyone has the software, and sometimes a contract will specify it. In response to that we produced a free public print utility program. That works well, but we were told that it complicates deliverables and might be unacceptable in some cases. We also brought up the PDF option. Though GHS does not directly export a PDF, several PDF print drivers are available (CutePDF is an example). But again, a PDF does not meet every requirement. Finally, we produced a utility "wizard" that exports GHS reports. Look for PFEXPORT in your GHS Wizards menu under the All category. |
