Throw any geometry file at SplitHull.wizgf, and it will split the hull open—moving tanks and all—as
if the ship were designed to do that. Even weights get relocated appropriately, and tank loads are preserved.
Of course this is only recommended for certain hopper barges with hinges and rams that
dump the hopper contents by forcing the two halves of the hull to rotate, thus making an opening in the bottom of the hopper.
All displacer and container parts in the model undergo the transformation. Only sail parts are left alone.
If the design of the vessel is such that some portion of the hull does not rotate, it must be
modeled in two separate geometry files so that the stationary geometry can be read into Part Maker
along with the rotated geometry. Then the combination gets written out as the final geometry file.
The images below show condition graphics taken before and after running SplitHull.
(Note that we're showing off how seawater can lay over the mud cargo, making two free surfaces,
which GHSX models nicely without doubling the hold part).
