RENDER
(Requires GHS version 18.22 or later)

GHS has a new command called RENDER. It is similar to the long-standing command of the same name from Part Maker except for three aspects:
  1. The current external waterplane is automatically included in the image unless /NOWPL is used.
  2. Any current surface modifications by TYPE are respected, just like in Condition Graphics.
  3. Ground points are shown.
The way this came about is a story we might as well share. You see, John Bonn called us with an observation and a request, both related to a potential new job. He noted with interest that the cranes in the rendered image in COW258 were at interesting angles. He suspected that the cranes were not modeled like that in the geometry file and he demanded to know what new feature was moving those cranes. In a similar vein, he asked for a way to show ground points in a rendering. He didn't really want to reveal his motivation for the call, but when pressed, he emailed the photo below.

Perhaps John was trying to produce a rendering of his proposed salvage plan.

We never got the full skinny on John Bonn's project, but we suspect it had something to do with "a great deal on moorage" and that record low tide that occurred recently.
