CONTENTS (part 2)

GHS maintains an internal table of contents descriptions and their associated densities, which allows the CONTENTS command to be used with the description alone, as in:

 TANK WBFPK.C
 CONTENTS "FRESH WATER"
Certain abbreviations are also accepted too, for example:

 CONTENTS FW
 CONTENTS SW
 CONTENTS FO
The complete list of default contents and abbreviations can be found in Help CONTENTS. To display the internal contents list on the screen use CONTENTS /TABLE. To list the contents description and specific gravity for each tank use the CONTENTS command.
The internal contents table is modified by any CONTENTS settings read from a Geometry File. For example, if we modify the contents of a tank using Part Maker and display the new contents list:

 READ TANKER
 ENTER PM
 MODIFY CGC4.C
   CONTENTS Orange Juice 1.0
 /
 WRITE TANKER.GF1
 QUIT `PM
 CONTENTS /TABLE

Now other tanks may be assigned the same contents using the descriptor specified in the Geometry File. The updated contents list is also available to the user in LOAD EDITOR via the right-click menu.

The list is also updated to reflect any changes made by the CONTENTS command. The same contents description may also be assigned to multiple tanks, but with different specific gravities for each:

 CONTENTS (CGC4.C) "ORANGE JUICE"
 CONTENTS (CGC5.C) "ORANGE JUICE" 1.25
The internal contents list retains only the most recent specific gravity assigned to each description (i.e. 1.25). Any tank with the previous specific gravity is not automatically updated. To update the tank, one would simply use:

 CONTENTS (CGC4.C) "ORANGE JUICE"
In this case, it might be best to differentiate between the two contents more explicitly:

CONTENTS "ORANGE JUICE" 0 `remove from the table
CONTENTS (CGC4.C) "OJ NO PULP" 1.0
 CONTENTS (CGC5.C) "OJ W/ PULP" 1.25
The densities listed in the CONTENTS table only affect tanks. If one were to change the specific gravity of "SALT WATER", the external seawater density would remain unchanged. It could be temporarily changed in GHS with the WATER command, but that is a topic for another day.
